The holidays are upon us once again, and with the holidays
comes gift of shopping. For the yarn-loving knitter or crochet fanatic on your
list, the most obvious choice might be to head to the yarn shop and purchase a
gift card. There are certainly more creative options available! Today we’re
going to explore some of the fabulous gifts available for the yarn-ivores on
your holiday shopping list.
Set
Them Up For Success
While you may not know just what sizes of knitting or
crochet needles your yarn lover already has, you can still buy them some much
needed and appreciated tools.
- A
variety of yarn. Set your loved one up for knitting fun by
choosing an array of colors in a high-quality yarn or variety of yarn types. If
your knitter usually stays away from pricier yarns like organic alpaca wool,
take the pain out of the purchase by doing it for them!
- Homemade
stitch markers. Most are made of metal wire, often decorated
with beads. Some crafters will even personalize them, so your friend’s
stitch markers can’t disappear at knitting club meetings.
- Handmade
knitting and crochet hooks. These are often made of wood, and are
quite lovely, almost like works of art rather than a simple ancient tool. Even
if all your yarn-loving mother does is display her handmade needles on a shelf,
she’ll still enjoy receiving such a unique and special gift.
- Handmade
(possibly personalized) yarn bowl. These pottery creations hold
the skein or ball of yarn and feed it out through a hole in the side. They
often look like very large tea cups or coffee mugs, with a handle on the side
for easy carrying. They come with many lovely designs and decorations, too.
Complement
their Craft
Everyone loves to receive useful items, especially when they
are related to a creative hobby such as knitting or crochet. Yarn lovers are no
different!
- Healing
hand lotion. Keep your knitter’s hands supple and soft for
working with their needles and yarn by giving them the gift of a luxurious hand
lotion or cream.
- Manicure. Another
nice, useful gift is a manicure gift certificate to her favorite salon. That
way she can keep her nails neat, tidy and pretty, too.
- Storage. Everyone
who works with crafts of any kind has a need for storing their supplies. Yarn
lovers can use baskets, pretty boxes, and plastic totes for safe-keeping their
yarn and other supplies.
- Totes. Don’t
forget that crafters often like to take their work with them. Some lovely totes
in various sizes are just the thing for filling that need.
Celebrate
Their Passion
For the yarn lover that seems to have everything she could
possibly ever need or want, you may have to get a little more creative.
- Jewelry. Find
themed necklaces, brooches, earrings, and other jewelry items for your
knitter or crochet enthusiast. Many are handmade and one of a kind, while
others can be purchased from yarn and craft supply shops.
- Clothing. Find hobby-related
fashion like sweatshirts, sweaters, tees, and more with designs and sayings to
lift any yarn lover’s heart and smile.
Gifts for yarn lovers abound, but they may take some time
and hunting to find. Check with your local craft and yarn shops, online at
sites like Etsy and CafePress, and even good ole Amazon. You needn’t be stuck
bewildered and wondering when it comes time to shop for the yarn lover on your
list this holiday season.
